Dance Workshop Barcelona, Spain

Althea Dance Company (France) and Ariel Rivka Dance (USA) are joining forces for an international tour, offering performances and a series of workshops across France and Spain during summer 2025.

This open-level technique and repertory workshop is led by dancers from Ariel Rivka Dance (USA) and Franco-American Althea Dance Theater, showcasing styles of movement and creativity influenced by the transatlantic experience. This unique class offers individual coaching in a supportive, inclusive space. ARD’s style blends classical ballet with modern elements, focusing on fluidity, athleticism, and technical challenge. ADC will focus on fluid movement, floorwork, partnering, repertoire sessions, and physical expression, using contemporary techniques with elements of improvisation and composition.

The session kicks off with a rhythmic warm-up to connect mind and body, followed by learning excerpts from ARD’s and ADC’s repertory, alongside the Artistic Directors & Choreographers and company dancers, immersing participants in the artistic process. This workshop is designed to deepen social and emotional connection while refining artistry and technique, offering a truly transformative experience for dancers of all levels.

Althea Dance Company is a contemporary dance company based between Paris and New York. The work is a blend of contemporary flow and seamless movement, yet very physical, which mixes floorwork with the lines and extensions of the dancers.

The company focuses on international collaboration with artists from different fields such as writers, musicians, painters or visuals artists. Althea Dance also likes to perform in surprising and unusual spaces such as warehouses, artist studios, art galleries or outdoor stages. The company explores new ways of sharing dance with the audience and reaching out to people who may not be used to the contemporary dance scene. So far, Althea Dance Company has performed internationally, mainly in the United States, the UK, France and Mexico and is aiming to keep expending its international voice.

Ariel Rivka Dance (ARD) is an all-female contemporary dance company based in New Jersey led by Artistic Director Ariel Grossman that creates a space for open-hearted movement collaborations rooted in women’s experiences. With live performances, global touring, and workshops for all ages, the company transcends the stage by exploring individual stories that connect to the broader community. Through movement, ARD creates a community of vulnerability and acceptance, providing opportunities for hope and connection.
