FUSA, A French-USA Dance Festival
by Althea Dance company
📍 Next edition:
New York – October 22, 2026
at the Centre Culturel du Lycée Français de New York
(Paris return planned in 2027)
FUSA is a contemporary dance project based between Paris and New York, designed as a living bridge between the French and American dance scenes. Led by Althea Dance Company, and hosted by the Centre Culturel du Lycée Français à New York for the 2026 edition, FUSA creates a space for exchange, experimentation, and performance for artists from diverse cultural and aesthetic backgrounds.
Structured as a traveling biennale, FUSA alternates between France and the United States. Since its launch in 2023, it has been presented at key venues such as the Fondation des États-Unis in Paris and La MaMa Theater in New York, showcasing powerful, emerging voices and dynamic new works from both sides of the Atlantic.
The festival offers a rich program of performances and workshops, encouraging selected artists to fully embody their creative freedom. FUSA promotes a continuous dialogue between choreographic practices, languages, and audiences—nurturing contemporary creation across borders.
In addition to the festival, Althea Dance Company also organizes In Motion, a contemporary dance workshop for pre-professional and professional dancers seeking to deepen their technique and creative expression. The program includes technique classes, partnering, repertoire, and choreographic composition.
FUSA returns to New York in 2026 with an expanded format and two unique evenings of performance. On October 22, the Centre Culturel du Lycée Français de New York will host a festive opening night with a ticketed performance. The venue includes a bar and social space, inviting the audience to meet the artists and dancers in a relaxed and convivial setting.
FUSA is more than a festival — it is a space for circulation and connection, where geographical and artistic boundaries dissolve to make room for movement, dialogue, and collective creation.
