FUSA, A French-USA Dance Festival

by Althea Dance company

📍 Next edition:
Paris – September 18 & 19, 2025
at the Consulat Voltaire and the Fondation des États-Unis
(New York return planned in 2026)

FUSA is a contemporary dance project designed as a living bridge between the French and American dance scenes. Led by Althea Dance Company, based between Paris and New York, FUSA creates a space for exchange, experimentation, and performance for artists from diverse cultural and aesthetic backgrounds.

Structured as a traveling biennale, FUSA alternates between France and the United States. Since its launch in 2023, it has been presented at key venues such as the Fondation des États-Unis in Paris and La MaMa Theater in New York, showcasing powerful, emerging voices and dynamic new works from both sides of the Atlantic.

The festival offers a rich program of performances and workshops, encouraging selected artists to fully embody their creative freedom. FUSA promotes a continuous dialogue between choreographic practices, languages, and audiences—nurturing contemporary creation across borders.

In addition to the festival, Althea Dance Company also organizes In Motion, a contemporary dance workshop for pre-professional and professional dancers seeking to deepen their technique and creative expression. The program includes technique classes, partnering, repertoire, and choreographic composition.

FUSA returns to Paris in 2025 with an expanded format and two unique evenings of performance. On September 18, the Consulat Voltaire will host a festive opening night with a ticketed performance. The venue includes a bar and social space, inviting the audience to meet the artists and dancers in a relaxed and convivial setting. On September 19, the festival continues at the Fondation des États-Unis with a more intimate evening designed to welcome the FEU’s community, while remaining open to all. Each night will feature a different lineup, offering audiences two distinct experiences and perspectives on contemporary dance.

FUSA is more than a festival — it is a space for circulation and connection, where geographical and artistic boundaries dissolve to make room for movement, dialogue, and collective creation.
