LAZAR is a 30-minute piece, whose creation began in March 2017, and which fuses dance, music and literature. The work’s starting point is an extract from the novel of the same name published by the French author Olivier Benyahya and published by L’Éditeur Singulier. As a literary fiction, Lazar is an investigation into sources, language, and the radical fragmentation of consciousness.
The text was then put into motion by Théa Bautista and Geovanni Ortega in a choreographic duo. Punctuated by a reading aloud, the movement is designed to embrace the musicality of the words.

LAZAR est une pièce de 30 minutes, dont la création a débuté en Mars 2017, et qui fusionne danse, musique et littérature. L’œuvre a pour point de départ un extrait du roman du même nom publié par l’auteur français Olivier Benyahya aux éditions L’Éditeur Singulier. Fiction littéraire, Lazar s’apparente à une enquête sur les sources, la langue, et la fragmentation radicale de la conscience. Le texte a ensuite été mis en mouvement par Théa Bautista et Geovanni Ortega dans un duo chorégraphique. Rythmé par une lecture à voix haute, le mouvement est conçu pour épouser la musicalité des mots. Prenant la forme d’une expérience visuelle et sonore dans laquelle les mots s’incarnent en redevenant matière, LAZAR a été interprété pour la première fois dans son intégralité le mercredi 17 avril 2019 par Althea Dance Company à Oaxaca au Mexique.
