Théa Bautista is a Franco-Mexican-American dancer and choreographer and is the founder of Althea Dance Company.

She studied music and dance for 10 years at the Maurice Ravel conservatory in Paris and did a one-year program at the Rick Odums International Jazz Dance Center in 2013. She decided to go to New York to continue her training in 2014 and graduated from the Peridance Capezio Center in June 2016.

In the United States and since she returned to France in 2020, she worked with several choreographers and companies including Damien Jalet, Giuliano Peparini, IKADA Dance Company, Shawn Bible, Oniin Dance Company, Azul Dance Theater and Horse Work Dance Project. It is also in New York that Thea created her own dance company – Althea Dance Company – in 2018.

Her collaborative ventures extend to partnerships with visual artists, notably with the textile artist Chloe Bensahel, with PAN Publications for an exhibition at the Cité des Arts in Paris, as well as engagement with the MASI collective. Noteworthy, among her projects is the fusion of dance and literature in 'LAZAR,' a collaborative endeavor with French author Olivier Benyahya. She has been entrusted with the creation of dance pieces for galleries and distinguished occasions, receiving commissions from esteemed institutions such as Palais de Tokyo in Paris, Prelude Project in New York and the Maison des Sciences de l’Homme in Belgium.

Since 2018, Thea Bautista and her company have been welcomed as artists in residency at the Fondation des Etats-Unis (FEU) in Paris. Building on this partnership, she furthered her engagement and, in 2023, inaugurated the first edition of the FUSA Dance Festival (France-USA Dance Festival) in close collaboration with the FEU.

To date, Thea is currently working on various international projects which will be presented in France, the United States and Mexico.
